Mary Clare Stevens
Artist, Executive Director of the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts
Mary Clare Stevens, Executive Director for the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts, directs the vision of the Foundation with the Board of Directors, and oversees its programming, administration, and operations. For many years, she was Kelley’s studio manager and was a trustee of his estate, serving a key role in the challenging transition from a working studio to a nonprofit foundation. In 2015, she worked to launch a new grant initiative, the Artist Projects Grants, which has distributed over $1.4M in support to collaborations between arts organizations and artists in Los Angeles County. Recently, she curated Mike Kelley: Kandors 1999-2011 at Hauser & Wirth Gallery (L.A.). Previously, Stevens worked as an educator and in a variety of roles at museums including the New York State Museum and the former Santa Monica Museum of Art. She is also an artist who holds an MFA from UCLA.
