Helina Metaferia
Interdisciplinary Artist
Helina Metaferia is an interdisciplinary artist working in mixed media collage, assemblage, video, performance, and social engagement. She has exhibited her work at venues including the Museum of African Diaspora (San Francisco), Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (Detroit), Smack Mellon (Brooklyn), NOMAD Gallery (Brussels, Belgium), and Modern Art Museum (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia). She has been supported by residencies at Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and Triangle Arts Association. Metaferia completed her MFA at Tufts University’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She is an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow/Assistant Professor at Brown University, and lives and works in New York City.
